Trip to the States

I was recently home for a few weeks. The Army sent me to a school in Las Vegas of all places. I was able to visit my sister Michelle for a week before and had a great time. It was my first time seeing Colorado. I also got to see my 4-3 buddy Riff and visit CSU. In Vegas, I was staying at a Casino, so it was very interesting. However, I think Vegas is a much better weekend place, not somewhere to go for 3 weeks.

These pictures are of me hiking in Rocky Mountain Park and visiting Hoover Dam.

Chamonix, France

For Christmas, Tom, Furby, and I went to Chamonix. It one of the more famous ski resorts in Europe. Its in the French Alps, near Switzerland. We woke up at 2 am on Friday and drove down there. Snowboarded Fri and Sat and drove home on Xmas day. It is the most beautiful mountain I've been on so far. Also, the most dangerous. Many, many dropoffs. I was pretty glad I've gotten a lot better.

On wierd thing about this place was the dogs. They were walking around everywhere, but I don't think they were strays cause they all had tags. Like these two here. We were in a bar, and they both just would walk in and out of the bar chasing each other around. Eventually, they were successful.

Riga, Latvia

This is our trip to Riga, Latvia in the Baltics. Its a former Soviet country. But, it has done the best of all the previous Soviet sattelites since the fall. I was totally amazed at how modern they are. This is from a bar on the top floor of the highest building. Made for an amazing view of the city. Nights here go very late. I don't think I saw day light the entire time.

London

Here's Dan and I at Trafalger square in London. We actually went back in June about 2 weeks before the subway bombings. London is a great city with a ton of stuff to see and do. But it is also one of the more expensive cities because of the pound. We called it the two for one special, since everything costs about twice as much as it normally would.

Scott of Arabia

The one good thing I was able t take away from Iraq. This is actually a 4 foot oil paining. There was a guy at my base that would always paint peoples photos, so i gave him mine, but told him to have me riding a horse.

Fiesta

Just in case there is any doubt....

Upcoming trips

Ok, for Xmas Tom, Furby and I are going to Chamonix, France. Its considered one of the premire ski resorts in Europe and the World. Should be awesome. We heading down there friday and coming back on Xmas day. Then the following Thursday a bunch of us are going to Edinburg, Scotland for New Years. Its called Homogony, a big fest they throw every year. I'll be back in Germany in time to catch the Buckeyes beat the Irish in Tempe. Go Bucks!!

Berlin

This was our trip to Berlin. Pretty amazing city, unlike anyother I've seen in Europe. Here I'm trying to climb the wall and Eamon and I are crawling all over old communist statues. I also went on my first pub crawl here. Definately a good way to go.

Oktoberfest

Ok, here it is. The infamous Oktoberfest. This was my 3rd one. So I'm getting pretty good at it. We showed up about noon and left at 11:00 pm. I think I had about 8 liters before the night was over.
The are 16 beer tents, each of which can hold 10,000 drinkers. Its almost impossible to get in unles you show up at 8am. Luckily a waitress grabbed me outside and took us in through the kitchen, dumb luck.

Bastone, Belgium

This is the Monument to America in Bastone, Belgium. It represents the Battle of the Bugle during WWII. Its also the town where the 101st Airborne Division was surrounded the winter of 1944. Its only an hour from my house. Not a big deal, unless of course you llock your keys in your trunk while loading Belgium beer. Then come to find out that my new Audi is so high tech that the lock smith can't even get into it. So we have to bum a ride to Luxembourg, then take the train the next morning to my house and get my other set of keys. And it was the same day as OSU-Michigan, so I'm racing all over 3 coutries trying to get my car back in time so I don't miss the game. Thank God we won, or I might have jumped.

Porta Nigra

Here i am in front of the Porta Nigra (Black Gate). Its about a 10 minute walk from my apartment. Its about 2,000 years old and dates from when the Roman's built the city. It's been used as a bunch of things over the years, everything from a Church to a Prison.

Thanksgiving Dinner

We went with the Ramstein ski club. They took care of everything. They even had the hotel cook us Thankgiving dinner. So that was good to have since we were all away from home. This is us at dinner. Also, Eamon and I on the mountain.

Zermatt

Here's all of us on our recent trip to Zermatt, Switzerland. The Matterhorn is in the backgound. Great trip to start off the winter skiing and snowboarding season.
