Hooters

Hooters opened their first restaurant in Germany. Its in a little town called Neukirchen. Not sure why they opened there, but on our way back from St. Anton we thought we could stop there to watch the playoffs. Z is a huge Steelers fan and was worried we were going to miss the game. It was actually good to feel a little American again. These twins are Rikki and Vikki, the Americans sent over the "train" the german waitresses.

St. Anton aus Tirol, Austria

Last ski trip was over MLK day weekend. We rented a mercedes wagon and drove to St Anton. Only about 5 hours away...when you have the autobahn going for you. We left at 2am again and were on the slopes by 9am. Its one of the best places I've been so far. You could ski from peak to peak. We spent the whole day and never did the same run twice.

The best part about skiing there is that just before you hit the bottom of the mountain, there are a bunch of awesome apre ski bars. We went to the Moosewirt the first afternoon and had a blast. We spent most of the time out on the patio and they played all my favorite german drinking songs. And to cap it all off, you still have to ski about 600 meters to the bottom of the mountain when you leave the bar. Very interesting. We got home to change at about 9pm and lets just say Eamon and I didn't makeit out that night.

The next day we ski'd even farther away, to different towns. But, it back fired because my watch had the wrong time and we got stuck on the backside of the mountain and had to take a taxi. But, we met up with our other friends at a different bar near the Moosewirt. But my buddy Z made a mstake. He decided to bring Stroh "the Spirit of Austria" with him. Its a very nasty 80 proof liqour that he kept trying to have Eamon and I drink on the slopes. Well, he finished the bottle and doesn't remember any of that bar as you can see above.

That night the funniest thing happened after we had gone home and changed. We were walking to the bars, it was a long walk. So Eamon and I were running ahead and "freestyle" walking. We were trying to annoy this girl that was on her way home and happened to be walking right next to us. But, in the distance I saw a dog walking our way. So I bent down and started yelling "here puppy puppy, here puppy puppy!" And it happily came right at me. But then T Met pushed me right as he got up to me, which of course startled the dog, not just any dog, but a PIT BULL!!! It was not happy. At this point I stood up straight, and didn't make any moves until it stopped barking and walked away. Then I ran as fast as I could up the road. I saw the random girl and said to her "did you see that?" She said. "that made my night." Gee, glad to be of service. We went to dinner, and Annie, Pete's girlfriend got the hiccups. So Z told her to plug all openings like you can see, and sure enough it work. Thats about it, St. Anton was a good time.

New Year's - Edinburgh, Scotland

Just got back from Edinburgh's Hogmanay. A big fest they have every year for New Year's Eve. Probably about 150,000 people or more. The just block off the streets downtown and they have multiple stages with different types of music. The wierd thing is that they don't sell any beer. So everyone just brings their own alcohol in plastic coke bottles. And its totally fine. The first night we just went to the bar and ended up hanging out with these crazy Irish guys. They had T Mett drinking beer out of someones shoe. The next day we went and saw the Castle, its situated on the top of a hill in the middle of town, really cool. That night they had an Afore Night Party. Basically, a smaller street fest with a parade and then the World's Largest "Strip the Willow." (Which we forgot about and decide to go to a bar to get a quick beer and by the time we got back had missed it.) But, Z and I did plenty of dancing anyway. The music was just fun, like bagpipe and violin rock band. Then the last night we went to the Hogmanay and just sang song after song as we walked down the street meeting people and getting them to sing with us. At midnight they had fireworks. Overall, Scotland was a blast. Except for the pound, the two for one special was in effect again.
